Nurse Practitioner Moonlighting Psychiatric Adult Inpatient - St. Paul, MN

About the role

Fairview is seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner – Adult Inpatient Psychiatry to moonlight with the Fairview medical team at its state-of-the-art, 144-bed behavioral health hospital, which opened in 2025. Capitol Park Mental Health Hospital located in St. Paul, Minnesota has an exciting opportunity to work with a growing team and help shape the delivery of compassionate, high-quality inpatient psychiatric care from the ground up.This is a moonlighting opportunity to provide support for acute inpatient psychiatric services for adults. This role will be required to come onsite to deliver care.

Practice Details:

• Setting: Inpatient  
• Schedule: Flexible, weekday-only coverage
• Minimum commitment: 2–3 shifts per month
• Compensation: $85/hour
• Admission support and crisis intervention
• Psychotropic medication initiation and adjustments
• Cross-coverage of existing inpatients
• Collaboration with onsite nursing leadership
• Structured handoff to attending providers

 Onboarding & Support:

• Access to EHR training in WellSky
• Behavioral health team orientation
• Supportive credentialing timeline and structured reporting
• Ongoing collaboration with multidisciplinary care teams

 Qualifications:

• Graduate of a school of nursing and accredited Nurse Practitioner training program
• BC/BE through the AANP or ANCC
• Licensed or ability to obtain APRN license with the Minnesota Board of Nursing
• Ability to obtain and/or maintain DEA certification for the State of Minnesota
• Meet threshold criteria/qualifications for Credentialing and Privileges
• BLS certified
• Previous experience in acute care, adolescent care and/or geriatric care preferred
• PMHNP certification required
• Prior experience as an advanced practice provider (APP) in an inpatient psychiatric setting is required

The actual rate of pay offered within this range may depend on several factors, such as FTE, skills,knowledge, relevant education, experience, and market conditions. Additionally, our organization values pay equity and considers the internal equity of our team when making any offer. Positions withthe same min/max are flat rate jobs based on 40 hours/week. Compensation plans based on production can allow for higher pay than the range posted.
