Medical Laboratory Scientist - PRN

Essential Job Function:

• Performs all processes associated with testing of laboratory specimens, ensuring adherence to established policies and procedures to ensure accurate and reliable test results.

• Conducts quality control and assurance activities to maintain accuracy in specimen testing and reporting for effective diagnosis and treatment.

• Maintains and troubleshoots complex instrumentation and test systems, documenting corrective actions prior to releasing testing results to contribute to reliable test outcomes.

• Prioritizes duties and manages workload to meet established laboratory turnaround times for efficient patient care and treatment decisions.

• Stays updated on annual competencies, continuing education assignments, and regulatory standards, ensuring compliance with safety and compliance policies and procedures.

• Practices efficient use of supplies and actively participate in inventory control to maintain a cost-effective and well-equipped laboratory.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education:

• Required: Bachelor's degree in medical technology, clinical laboratory science, or chemical, physical, or biological science.

Experience:

• Preferred: Six months experience as a technical generalist.

Licensure/Certification/Listing:

• Required: Must have Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) pr Specialist in Blood Bank (SBB) or Technologist in Blood Banking (BB) or Technologist in Chemistry (C) or Technologist in Hematology (H) or Technologist in Microbiology (M) or Specialist in Microbiology (SM) by ASCP or AMT certification.
