What You Will Do:
The Manufacturing Execution System (MES) Co-op is a high-energy, hands-on learning role within the Enterprise Operations Advanced Operations, Factory Enablement Teams. This position bridges the gap between software configuration and shop-floor execution by focusing heavily on Solumina MES. You will support global manufacturing sites by helping to create standard work, developing clear standard operating procedures (SOPs), and building common data tables and strategies to drive consistency, compliance, and efficiency across our global manufacturing footprint. Working alongside experienced engineers and technologists, you will play a critical role in documenting best practices, harmonizing data structures, and ensuring that our Solumina MES deployment supports our site operators and functional partners in Quality, Engineering, and Production.
What You Will Learn:
- Standard Work Creation: Design, draft, and document standard work instructions and operating procedures for Solumina MES users, ensuring alignment across global manufacturing facilities.
- SOP Development: Author, review, and maintain comprehensive Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for MES transactions, shop-floor data collection, process flows, and system interactions.
- Data Table & Strategy Harmonization: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and implement common data tables, lookup lists, and master data governance strategies within Solumina to support global standardization.
- Process Mapping & Optimization: Map current-state shop-floor routing, build processes, and inspection steps to identify standardization opportunities and eliminate redundancies in the MES environment.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality Engineering, and Digital Technology (DT) teams to ensure MES configurations reflect shop-floor realities and compliance requirements.
- User Feedback Integration: Gather feedback from plant operators, supervisors, and site super-users to continuously improve standard work documentation and data structures.
- Global Deployment Support: Assist in preparing training materials, documentation packages, and data templates to support global site rollouts and adoption of Solumina MES standards.
- Testing & Validation: Support system testing, data validation, and troubleshooting for new Solumina releases, data table updates, or template modifications.
Qualifications You Must Have:
- Must be pursuing Bachelor's or Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field or related Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) major and actively enrolled through the completion of the internship/co-op session.
- Experience in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Experience delivering presentations using data visualization tools to communicate production metrics or project updates to cross-functional teams or leadership.
Qualifications We Prefer:
- Experience with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES)—specifically Solumina—alongside experience with ERP, PLM, or shop-floor automation layers.
- Experience with translating complex software workflows and data structures into clear, concise standard work and SOPs.
Experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects.
